TrendSwim 2016 (Colombo Fashion Week) – Moderating Panel Discussions

My first engagement with Colombo Swim Week was in 2016, and it has been a privilege and an enormous learning experience to continue to work with Ajai Singh (Founder, President, Managing Director – Colombo Fashion Week) and Fazeena Rajabdeen (Chief Executive Officer – Colombo Fashion Week) and their team in 2017 and 2018. And I felt privileged and fortunate to also moderate the first ever Responsible Fashion Summit in March 2018! More about that in a later post.

But for the moment here is a video clip from my first ever panel discussion for Colombo Swim Week, in 2016.

I am not from the fashion industry, and it was at first a bit daunting to be talking to leading fashion designers and apparel manufacturers about the global trends, future direction and especially the aspect of sustainability. Here I am talking to one of the most thoughtful, intellectual and inspired fashion designers David Abraham.

David Abraham Creative director of Abraham & Thakore, one of India’s leading resources for fashion and textiles. A graduate of the National Institute of Design, he is interested in exploring contemporary expressions of traditional craft and in developing a design vocabulary is restrained yet diverse. A member of the Board of Governors of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), David Abraham is also a member of the Governing Council of the India Design Council (IDC).

Here is David, with his valuable insights on untapping the potential for the swimwear market in India
